Attention should be paid to key details based on specific usage scenarios (such as industrial equipment, automobiles, water purifiers, etc.) to ensure that the filter element is compatible, meets performance standards, and has a service life that meets requirements. The following are general core precautions, classified and explained in different scenarios:


1、 Basic parameter adaptability


1. Size and installation interface


-Outer diameter/inner diameter/length: It needs to be completely consistent with the original filter element of the equipment, such as the thread specification of the car oil filter element and the interface type of the water purifier filter element (quick insert, threaded, etc.).


-Installation method: Confirm whether the filter element is screw in, snap in, or flange type to avoid installation failure due to interface mismatch.


-Example: The filter element of an industrial hydraulic system needs to match the inner diameter and sealing method of the filter cartridge, otherwise it may cause oil leakage or filtration failure.



2. Filtering accuracy


-Micron (μ m) value: Select the filtration accuracy according to the requirements. The smaller the value, the finer the filtration effect, but the flow resistance may be higher.


-Scenario:


-Automotive fuel filter: usually 5-20 μ m, filters impurities in the fuel to protect the fuel injector.


-Industrial lubricating oil filter: Precision equipment (such as CNC machine tools) require a diameter of less than 5 μ m, while ordinary machinery can relax to 20-40 μ m.


-Water purifier filter element: PP cotton filter element (5-100 μ m coarse filtration), RO membrane (0.0001 μ m ultra-fine filtration).



3. Flow and pressure parameters


-Rated flow: The larger processing capacity of the filter element per unit time needs to be matched with the actual flow requirements of the equipment (such as the output flow of the water pump).


-Work pressure: Confirm the pressure resistance range of the filter element (e.g. hydraulic system filter element needs to withstand high pressure, water purifier filter element needs to adapt to tap water pressure).



2、 Material and performance requirements


1. Filter material


-Filter layer material:


-Paper filter: Low cost, suitable for low precision scenarios (such as car air filters), but prone to clogging and not corrosion-resistant.


-Metal mesh/sintered metal filter element: resistant to high temperature and high pressure, suitable for industrial oil or high-temperature gas filtration (such as gas turbines).


-Polymer/fiber filter cartridge: such as polypropylene (PP), polyester fiber, used for water purifiers or food grade filtration, with good chemical resistance.


-Activated carbon filter cartridge: mainly used for adsorbing organic matter and odors (such as the post filter cartridge of a water purifier), pay attention to the iodine value (the higher the adsorption capacity, the stronger the adsorption capacity).


-Supporting structure: metal frame (pressure resistant) or plastic frame (lightweight, suitable for low-pressure environments).



2. Corrosion resistance and compatibility


-Confirm the chemical compatibility between the filter material and the filtering medium (liquid/gas) to avoid corrosion or contamination of the filter.


-Example: To filter acidic liquids (such as chemical solutions), stainless steel or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) material filter cartridges should be selected. Ordinary paper filter cartridges will be corroded.



3. Service life and replacement cycle


-Rated lifespan: The capacity of the filter element for dirt (e.g. "XX liters of liquid need to be replaced after filtration") or the usage time (e.g. "recommended to replace every 12 months").


-Attention: The actual lifespan is affected by the cleanliness of the medium, and the replacement cycle should be shortened in scenarios with high impurities (such as air filters used in dusty environments for construction machinery).



3、 Precautions for application scenario segmentation


1. Automotive filter element


-Air filter element:


-Pay attention to filtration efficiency (the ability to block dust particles), poor quality filter elements may cause insufficient engine intake or wear.


-Suitable for vehicle model year and engine model, such as turbocharged engines requiring higher strength filter elements.


-Oil filter element:


-Choose an anti high pressure bypass valve design to avoid direct oil bypass affecting lubrication when the filter element is clogged.


-Pay attention to the material of the sealing ring (such as fluororubber, which is heat-resistant and suitable for high-performance engines).


-Fuel filter element:


-Distinguish between internal (in the fuel tank, with a long replacement cycle) and external (in the pipeline, requiring regular replacement). Poor quality filter elements may cause clogged fuel injectors.



2. Industrial equipment filter element


-Hydraulic system filter element:


-Must comply with ISO 4406 cleanliness level requirements, such as NAS level 8 or higher for precision hydraulic systems.


-Choose a filter element with a differential pressure transmitter for real-time monitoring of blockage.


-Compressed air filter element:


-Distinguishing between different grades (such as the solid particle and oil mist content standards in ISO 8573.1), the food industry requires food grade filter cartridges.


-Pay attention to water separation efficiency and avoid condensate entering pneumatic equipment.



3. Household water purifier filter element


-Filter cartridge combination:


-The multi-stage filtration system (such as PP cotton+activated carbon+RO membrane) needs to confirm the replacement sequence and cycle of each filter element.


-RO reverse osmosis filter cartridges should pay attention to desalination rate (≥ 95% is considered high-quality), as poor quality RO membranes may lead to substandard water quality.


-Certification standards: Select filter cartridges that have passed NSF, CE, and other certifications to ensure material safety (such as no heavy metal precipitation).

-Priority should be given to original factory accessories or well-known third-party brands (such as MAN, 3M, Qinyuan, etc.). Poor quality filter cartridges may cause equipment failure due to filter layer detachment (such as oil filter cartridge filter paper breakage and blockage of oil circuit).

-Large brand filter cartridges usually have anti-counterfeiting codes, laser markings, or packaging anti-counterfeiting labels, which can be verified for authenticity through official websites or hotlines.



3. Cost effectiveness considerations


-Avoid excessive pursuit of low prices, as low-priced filters may result in cutting corners in filtering materials (such as insufficient filling of activated carbon filters, poor adsorption efficiency).


-Comprehensive calculation of long-term costs: Although the initial cost of long-life filters (such as stainless steel washable filters) is high, they are suitable for long-term use scenarios.



5、 Other practical details


-Storage conditions: The filter element should be stored in a dry and dust-free environment to avoid moisture or contamination (such as a decrease in strength of paper filter elements due to moisture).


-Installation direction: Some filter elements have flow direction markings (as indicated by arrows), and reverse installation can cause filtration failure.


-Disposal: If industrial filter cartridges contain hazardous substances (such as waste oil, chemical filtrate), they should be disposed of according to environmental regulations to avoid polluting the environment.
